Some medical services are not covered by statutory health insurance, but you may still wish to make use of them. These individual health services (known in Germany as IGeL) can be provided at your request (e.g., diving certificates, medical certificates for voice professions) or, in specific cases, as our medical recommendation.

Medical Certificates

Diving Fitness Examination

We generally recommend that anyone who dives regularly should undergo routine diving fitness examinations.
PD Dr. Jansen has completed the GTÜM diving medicine certification course, is a GTÜM member, and has many years of scientific experience in hyperbaric and diving medicine at the University Hospital Cologne. Her habilitation research also focused on diving medicine and Eustachian tube function. She will be happy to address all of your diving-related medical questions.

Occupational Fitness Examinations (Voice and Hearing Professions)

Before starting training for professions that place high demands on the voice or hearing, an occupational fitness assessment should be performed. This includes a detailed clinical and functional examination of the relevant organs. This is not a phoniatric expert opinion, but an otolaryngology-based hearing or voice assessment.
(Fee: 100 EUR)

Special Services

(Not covered by statutory health insurance)

These include, among others:

  • Removal of skin lesions for cosmetic reasons
  • Flexible video laryngoscopy for precise, gentle examination of the vocal cords and larynx
  • Laser paracentesis of the eardrum
  • “High nasal packs” for acute sinusitis to reduce swelling of the nasal mucosa

For pricing of these services, please contact us during your visit, by phone, or via email.

If you request an extended consultation for complex medical questions—services that our physicians typically offer only during specialized consultations at the university hospital—and the required time exceeds 15 minutes, we may need to invoice this as a special self-pay service. This is because we must reserve a longer appointment slot and cannot see other patients during that time.
